Dear Reader,
I got out! I got out all by myself! I climbed up on a log and found a place I could chew through. I worked at it quite industriously until I had made a hole big enough to climb through.
I couldn't get back into my territory through it - but I had already stashed a great deal of food outside and, also, I'd gnawed through the bottom of a bag of lab blocks. I was bored with my hiding place in the sofa, and, finding that I could get into the Supply Closet, I moved there.
I hadn't brought anything to nest in, but fortunately Sweetie had left a roll of soft paper on the floor. I hauled away paper until the roll was empty. It was a time-consuming task, but I had all night.
I am quite pleased with myself. Living free is a cinch. I was able to make a nest and establish a food cache without help from the Pets. I am sure that I could find a water supply if I looked hard enough. I have made up a new song.
With cleverness and daring-do
I come to walls and chew right through!
Near and far,
Let it be told:
I am a Hamster
Big and Bold!
Into the Great Unknown I creep,
And ramble free while others sleep.
Near and far,
Let it be told:
I am a Hamster
Big and Bold!
I will not starve for lack of stash,
I prudently have moved my cache.
Near and far,
Let it be told:
I am a Hamster
Big and Bold!
I was trying to think of a fourth verse when I fell asleep.
I didn't wake up until Hun's big paws took hold of me. My third big tantrum!
